WiFi malo en casa: el drama tiene solución

Bad home WiFi: the problem has a solution

📶 Is your home WiFi acting up? (don't worry, it's NOT you)

Does your WiFi work perfectly in the living room… but then you go into your bedroom and your phone starts loading as if it were 2007? 🥲
Or when you put on Netflix… it starts buffering and so do you? 😵💫

Don't worry. This is completely normal and has a solution.

And no: it's not about yelling at the router (though sometimes you want to).

🧠 First: why is my WiFi bad if I have good fiber?

Here's the plot twist:
📌 Your internet might be fast… but WiFi has enemies.

The main culprits are:

🧱 Walls (especially if they're thick)
📺 Furniture (if you hide the router, the WiFi cries)
🍳 Microwaves (yes, microwaves can mess with the signal)
🏘️ Neighbor's networks (if you live in an apartment, this is the "Hunger Games" of WiFi)

Typical results:
❌ weak signal
❌ disconnections
❌ slow speed
❌ video calls in "robot" mode

But calm down: there are several solutions, and each one works for a different situation.

✅ Solutions to improve your WiFi (without buying crazy stuff)

📡 1) WiFi Repeater (the classic)

A repeater is like a WiFi "speaker": it picks up the signal and retransmits it.

✅ Ideal if…

  • Only one room is affected

  • It's near the router

  • You want something cheap and quick

❌ Not a good idea if…

  • You place it where the WiFi is already bad (because then… it repeats the problem) 🤡

  • You need maximum stability (gaming, serious telework, video calls)

📌 Key tip: put it halfway, not in the "dead zone."

🔌 2) Powerline (internet over electrical outlets)

This is modern magic: Powerline sends internet using your home's electrical wiring.

✅ Ideal if…

  • You want a more stable connection for:
    🎮 console
    📺 Smart TV
    💻 PC

  • WiFi won't go through walls no matter how much you pray

❌ Not a good idea if…

  • The electrical installation is old or problematic

  • You connect it to a power strip (and then wonder why it's not great 😅)

📌 Tip: if you also want WiFi in that area, look for Powerline with integrated WiFi.

🕸️ 3) WiFi Mesh

Mesh is like putting "mini routers" around the house that work together to create a single WiFi network.

✅ Ideal if…

  • Large house

  • Several rooms or floors

  • You want to move around the house without disconnections (like a happy person)

❌ Not a good idea if…

  • You place the nodes too far apart

  • You're looking for the cheapest option (because quality costs money)

📌 Tip: place the nodes where there's still a good signal so they can communicate well.

📍 4) Access Point (AP) → the most PRO option

This is what many offices and well-equipped homes use:
👉 you run an Ethernet cable and put a new WiFi access point where you need it.

✅ Ideal if…

  • You can run an Ethernet cable

  • You want the most stable and fastest connection

  • You telework, stream, or play online

❌ Not a good idea if…

  • You can't run cables and don't want any hassle

📌 Tip: if you can run cables, this option is usually the best in terms of quality.

📦 5) Change the router (yes, sometimes it's the culprit)

Some routers work well with 2 phones… but with 10 connected devices, they're like:
😵 "I can't take it anymore…"

✅ Ideal if…

  • It cuts out when many phones are connected

  • Your router is old

  • You want WiFi 6 / more stability

❌ Not a good idea if…

  • The problem is that it doesn't reach distant rooms
(there you need Mesh or AP)

📌 Realistic tip: good fiber + weak router = weak WiFi.

💸 Before spending money… try this (seriously)

Sometimes it gets fixed in 2 minutes and you didn't know:

✅ Place the router high and centered
✅ Don't hide it in furniture
✅ Separate networks: 2.4G (range) / 5G (speed)
✅ Quick restart (yes, it works 😅)

🧭 Easy Summary (for humans)

📡 Repeater → cheap (if you're close)
🔌 Powerline → stable via electrical outlet
🕸️ Mesh → coverage for large houses
📍 Access Point → best if cabled
📦 New router → if the current one is struggling
